1.8 M Euro to rescue children from stigma and discrimination

Save the Children Romania launched on September 6, a 1.8 million euro project  to combat stigmatisation and discrimination of vulnerable children: Roma children and children with mental health and emotional problems. The three-year project is financed by the IKEA Foundation and will be implemented with technical support from Save the Children Sweden.

Save the Children Romania will provide direct services to vulnerable children and their parents through summer kindergartens for Roma children, parents'counselling and parental education, psychological counselling for children at risk of developing mental health and emotional problems. Professionals in mental health and education will be trained to better understand the needs of vulnerable children.

As part of the project, a communication campaign - „Label-Free Children"- will be launched next year, to raise awareness on the negative consequences that discrimination has both on children's development and on society at large.
