Alex Găvan - a new expedition to climb Broad Peak (8047m)

Alex Găvan, one of Romania's top mountain-climber performers is taking a new challenge. He will leave on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, for an expedition to the Karakorum Mountains to climb Broad Peak (8047m) without supplementary oxygen and without Sherpas’ support. Karakorum Mountains are located in Pakistan on the border with China.
Alex’s motto is Climbing mountains Outside is climbing mountains Inside. Promoters of climbing the mountains “by fair means”, Alex and his team do not use in their ascents supplementary oxygen, or Sherpa support. To date, he has climbed five peaks over the magic line of 8000m: Cho Oyu - 8201m (2006, Second Romanian Ascent), Gasherbrum 1 - 8068m (2007, First Romanian Ascent), Makalu - 8463m (2008, First Romanian Ascent), Manaslu-8156m (2011, Second Romanian Ascent) and Shisha Pangma-8027m (2013, First Romanian Ascent).
