First Forum on Fighting Cybercrime in Romania

Romanian and foreign experts got together within the first Forum organised in Romania on informatic crime, „Challenges and Solutions for a Safe Cyberspace”, on 14-15 December 2010, in Bucharest.

The Forum was initiated by the Ministry of Justice and organised in cooperation with its partners – the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, General Inspectorate of Romania’s Police, the Romanian-Swiss Multimedia Institute, the SECI Office. Its objective is to create a platform of cooperation among public institutions and private companies, to allow the exchange of information and experience, and professional training.

The Ministry of Justice aims at making the Forum a stable structure, that meets on regular basis. Participants were both from public institutions (policemen, judges, specialists from ministries) and private companies (banking, telecommunications, internet providers, law firms). The experts discussed latest technologies, evolutions, solutions and problems in the field (international approaches to cybercrime, illicit money flows on the internet, latest authentification methods, preserving the security of a company, scams 2.0., the fraud by mobile phone, cooperation among public and private actors, the industrial espionage, managing strategic risks, etc).


The forum was inaugurated by Alina Bica, State Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Alexandru Steriu, deputy general secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tiberiu Niţu, First Deputy General Prosecutor, General Prosecutor’s Office, Constantin Bolbo;anu, deputy director, Department for Fighting Organised Crime, Romanian General Police Inspectorate, Petros Petroff, Deputy Director, Head of Operational Support Department, SECI Regional Center for Combating Transborder Crime.
