OMA’s vision on children abuse – a campaign for Save the Children Romania

OMA Vision  provides the strategy and the project management of the communication campaign that  Save the Children Romania runs in 2013 to fight violence against children. The campaign is entitled "Label-free Children" ("Copiii fara eticheta") and will be launched on March 19, 2013, within a press conference, along with the public presentation of the study carried out by Save the Children Romania on the level of child abuse in Romania. Our campaign aims to raise awareness on how physical and emotional violence affects children in the two essential environments for their evolution - school and family - and to generate a change in attitude regarding children and their education.

The figures in the Save the Children Romania's study are striking: 86% of the Romanian children are punished by their teachers when they make a mistake; between 38% and 63% children are beaten up by their parents. It is the first time in 10 years that such a study is being carried out in Romania.

As the root of the problem is a wrong perception of the child in our society, which can be summarised as „the child is bad and can be educated only with hard measures". OMA Vision has creatively designed a campaign entitled "Label-free children", inviting adults - parents, educators, decision makers - to free their minds of prejudice and make a difference in children's life. The campaign will both provide awareness about the consequences of violence on the evolution of the child, including as an adult, and tools to change the educational approach: positiv parentig, public policies, community support.
