Participation to the Romanian Development Camp

Participation to the Romanian Development Camp

Romania needs to develop a joint strategy on development education, involving both the civil society and the governmental structures, in order to create awareness, to educate and to engage all key stakeholders to support this activity. This was the key message conveyed by Oana Marinescu, managing director of OMA Vision, during her presentation at the Romanian Development Camp in Cluj, on the 8th July 2011. She argued that development practitioners need to think their activity in terms of strategic communication, because they need to get their field of activity on the public and on the political agenda, in order to secure support, finances and credibility. Communicating development is more than PR, it is education and promotion of moral values, and the challenges are even higher in Romania, where the system of values has not settled yet. From this point of view, communicating development and promoting education development will help even Romania grow in accordance with a solid set of values, she concluded. The Romanian Development Camp is an annual event bringing together major stakeholders in development cooperation at national and European level. It is organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the FOND (Federatia Organizatiilor pentru Dezvoltare din Romania). Too see the PowerPoint presentation, click here.
