Client Situation
Following several years of enthusiastic requests from his Romanian fans and a few folded attempts to perform in Romania, in 2014 all the stars aligned for famous violinist André Rieu and his orchestra to give their first concert in Bucharest.
Objectives
OMA Vision was sought to provide communication, consultancy, and media relations for the concert’s promotion. The challenge was to adapt to the Romanian audiences’ pleas the Dutch production team’s fan engagement strategies and live music experience, as well as to coordinate the most appropriate audience-building efforts towards complete success.
Results
OMA Vision organized and moderated the announcing press conference, having André Rieu himself as the special guest at the Romanian Athenaeum. Over 90 top media reps attended. The announcement of the first concert has generated such a huge media buzz that over 85,000 tickets sold in the first 72 hours. The unprecedented record in ticket sales led to an extended series of no less than 7 concerts, given to a massive, spectacularly diverse and enthusiastic audience.
